Snake Summary

Snake was composed by D.H Lawrence. He was a novelist, short story writer and essayist. In this poem he writes about an incident which took place in summer. Once he felt thirsty and got up to drink water but in the pitcher there was no water so taking the pitcher he started going towards the tap but suddenly he saw that a snake was also going towards the tap. The poet was mesmerized by the sight and movement of the snake. The snake started drinking water, but he kept watching. However, as the snake partially entered the hole, he attacked it with a log, so he began to repent as to why he wanted to kill him. The snake did no harm to him, yet he tried to kill He considers himself to be selfish and inferior and writes about the snake that he seemed to me like a king, And so, I missed my chance with one of the lords of life
